Setting Up Your Wallet

To participate in the game, you'll need a secure digital wallet. Tapout makes this easy with a built-in In-App Wallet system, allowing you to create a wallet using familiar login methods.

This guide will walk you through setting up your in-app wallet.

What is an In-App Wallet?

An in-app wallet is a cryptocurrency wallet created and managed within the Tapout game interface. It's designed for ease of use, especially for those new to blockchain technology. You don't need to install separate browser extensions or manage complex seed phrases initially. Your access is tied to your chosen login method (Google, X, Passkey, or Email).

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

When you first open Tapout, or if you're not currently logged in, you'll need to press the Log In button then you'll be presented with the In-App Onboarding Dialog.

Follow these steps based on your preferred login method:

1. Using Google Login

This is often the quickest way to get started if you have a Google account.

  1. Select Google: In the onboarding dialog, click on the Google option or the button that says "Connect with Google."(Screenshot of the Google tab/button highlighted)

  2. Google Authentication: A pop-up window from Google will appear.

    • Choose the Google account you wish to use.

    • You may need to enter your Google password if you're not already signed in.

    • Grant Tapout permission to access basic profile information (this is standard for social logins).

  3. Wallet Creation: Once you've successfully authenticated with Google, Tapout will securely create your in-app wallet in the background.

  4. Connected! You'll be advanced to the next step in the onboarding process, usually "Fund Your Wallet." Your new wallet address will be associated with your Google login for Tapout.

2. Using X (Twitter) Login

Connect using your X (formerly Twitter) account.

  1. Select X: In the onboarding dialog, click on the X option or the button that says "Connect with X."(Screenshot of the X tab/button highlighted)

  2. X Authentication: A pop-up window from X will appear.

    • Enter your X username and password if prompted.

    • Authorize the Tapout application to connect with your X account.

  3. Wallet Creation: After successful X authentication, your Tapout in-app wallet will be created.

  4. Connected! You'll proceed to the next onboarding step. Your wallet is now linked to your X login for Tapout.

3. Using Passkey Login

Passkeys offer a secure and passwordless way to log in using your device's built-in security features (like fingerprint, face recognition, or PIN).

  1. Select Passkey: In the onboarding dialog, click on the Passkey option or the button that says "Connect with Passkey."(Screenshot of the Passkey tab/button highlighted)

  2. Device Authentication: Your browser or operating system will prompt you to create or use an existing passkey for Tapout.

    • You might be asked to use your device's biometric sensor (fingerprint, face ID) or your device PIN/password.

    • Follow your device's specific prompts to complete the passkey creation/authentication. You might be asked to name the passkey (e.g., "Tapout Passkey").

  3. Wallet Creation: Once the passkey is set up and authenticated, your Tapout in-app wallet is generated.

  4. Connected! You're ready for the next step. Future logins with this passkey will be quick and secure.

💡 What is a Passkey? Passkeys are a new industry standard for passwordless sign-ins, replacing passwords with cryptographic key pairs stored securely on your device. They are generally considered more secure than traditional passwords.

4. Using Email Login

You can also create a wallet using your email address and a one-time verification code.

  1. Select Email: In the onboarding dialog, click on the Email option.

  2. Enter Your Email: Type your email address into the input field and click "Send Code."

  3. Check Your Email: Tapout will send a verification code to the email address you provided. Check your inbox (and spam/junk folder, just in case).

  4. Enter Verification Code: Once you receive the code, return to the Tapout dialog, enter the verification code in the designated field, and click "Verify."

  5. Wallet Creation: Upon successful verification, your in-app wallet will be created.

  6. Connected! You'll move to the next onboarding step.

After Connecting: Your Wallet Address

Once your in-app wallet is created and you're connected, you'll typically be guided to Step 2: Fund Your Wallet.

  • Finding Your Address: In this step, or within your user profile section later, you will see Your Wallet Address. This is a long string of characters starting with 0x.... This address is unique to you and is used to send and receive TAP tokens and the network's native currency (like ETH).(Screenshot showing where the wallet address is displayed in the "Fund Your Wallet" step or profile)

  • Copy Your Address: Use the "Copy" button next to your address when you need to provide it for receiving funds.

Important Notes for In-App Wallets

  • Security of Your Login Method: The security of your Tapout in-app wallet is tied to the security of the account you used to log in (Google, X, Email) or your device's security (for Passkeys). Keep your login credentials and devices secure.

  • Device Specificity (for some methods): Passkeys are typically tied to the device they were created on, though some systems allow syncing passkeys across devices.

  • Accessibility: Your in-app wallet is accessible through the Tapout game interface whenever you log in using the same method.
